About The Position

The City of Eagan is hiring a Basketball Scorekeeper for its recreational basketball program. This seasonal, part-time role involves managing the game clock, keeping the official scorebook, and ensuring adherence to game and league rules. The position requires knowledge of basketball and involves interacting with participants, officials, and reporting scores and incidents to a supervisor. The role is primarily indoors and can be hectic during games, with work hours typically on Wednesday evenings.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to socially, physically and mentally perform all essential position functions under the working conditions as described.
Good knowledge of the fundamentals and rules of the game.
Two (2) seasons of participation, coaching, or scorekeeping in an adult recreational league.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) seasons of prior scorekeeping experience.

Responsibilities

Runs the game clock and keeps the official scorebook.
Understands all game and league rules pertaining to game play.
Ensures sportsmanlike conduct of participants and spectators by penalizing those who violate the rules of the game.
Prevents, mediates, and resolves conflicts that may arise during game play.
Ensures proper completion of all scoring documents and reports scores to supervisor.
Provides written and/or verbal reports on all incidents, protests, ejections, and facility concerns.
Communicates and interacts with a diverse participant population.
Maintains a positive, polite, considerate, and cooperative attitude.
Acts in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
Works independently.
Informs supervisor of any issues regarding the league.
Performs other duties as assigned.
