About The Position

The City of Madera is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and dependable Basketball Referees to officiate youth and adult recreation league basketball games. Under general direction from the Recreation/Community Programs Coordinator, referees follow National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, ensure fair and safe gameplay, and support organized competition. The role helps provide a fun, safe, and positive basketball experience for the community.

This is a part-time, at-will position. Work may take place during the day, evenings, nighttime, and weekends to support recreational basketball programming. Referees are expected to report dependably and on time for scheduled work. Appointment is contingent upon an extensive background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.

Requirements

• Knowledge of basketball demonstrated through previous participation at a recreational or competitive level.
• Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the position.
• Dependability and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

• Prior officiating experience.
• Basketball officiating certificate; desired but not required.
