About The Position

Montrose School, an independent school for girls in grades 6-12, is seeking a part-time Varsity Basketball Head Coach. The season runs from November 15 to March 5, 2027. The Head Coach will be responsible for organizing and supervising games and practices, managing uniforms and equipment, assessing player skills, and instilling core values such as respect, team spirit, passion, teamwork, and dedication. The coach will work collaboratively with the Assistant Coach, JV Coaches, and Athletic Director to foster a unified Basketball Program, ensuring all activities align with the school's philosophy and mission.

Requirements

• Prior playing and coaching experience.
• An understanding of the rules and regulations of the game.
• Knowledge of effective skills and strategies that contribute to team growth and success.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• CPR Certification (may complete upon hiring).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.

Responsibilities

• Organizing and supervising games and practices for the Varsity team.
• Managing uniforms and equipment.
• Assessing player skills and monitoring players during competition and practice.
• Providing guidance to players for skill improvement.
• Instilling values of respect, team spirit, passion, teamwork, and dedication.
• Improving skills, confidence, and commitment in all athletes.
• Working in coordination with the Assistant Coach, JV Coaches, and Athletic Director to create a unified Basketball Program.
• Ensuring all activities and behaviors meet appropriate professional standards and adhere to the philosophy and mission of Montrose School.
