The Head Varsity Baseball Coach is responsible for supervising student-athletes and assistant coaches in accordance with the Gadsden Independent School District’s policies and applicable laws. This role involves adhering to district rules and athletic philosophy, promoting sports participation, and treating student-athletes professionally in conjunction with the athletic coordinator and campus principal. The coach is expected to foster a competitive environment, encourage academic and athletic success, and teach sportsmanship. This position also involves program development, including off-season and summer programs, and coordination with middle school programs. The coach must be familiar with and follow all district and New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) policies and guidelines regarding eligibility, paperwork, and recruiting. Professional responsibilities include reporting inappropriate behavior, supervising and evaluating assistant coaches, and attending professional meetings. The coach must cooperate with other coaches, athletic programs, and the Athletic Director, and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment. Fundraising activities must follow district guidelines, and Booster Club activities must be monitored. The coach is responsible for the conduct and well-being of all players and assistant coaches, and must conduct themselves in a manner that brings credit to themselves, their team, and the school.
