About The Position

Marksman Security is hiring a Base Security Officer to help provide security services in El Segundo and Long Beach, California. The role involves observing people and surroundings, controlling access, responding to emergencies, deterring crime, documenting incidents, and assisting employees, visitors, and contractors. Officers must be available to work an open schedule and be comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions. Pay is $23.00 per hour.

Requirements

Valid California BSIS Guard Card.
At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong customer service skills.
Familiarity with report writing.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Monitoring and surveillance experience.
Essential computer competencies.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assigned tasks.
Comfort working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Open availability required.

Responsibilities

Remain alert and watch for suspicious activity, potential threats, or disorderly conduct; ensure employees, contractors, and visitors display visible badges.
Investigate unusual activity or report it to appropriate personnel.
Monitor access points and verify badges or identification; direct unauthorized individuals through screening until verified and prevent tailgating.
Address and remove trespassers from the premises.
Take action during medical incidents, accidents, fires, and other emergencies; assist with evacuations, provide first aid, or call for help.
Know and follow emergency protocols and use communication systems.
Serve as a visible deterrent to criminal activity.
Patrol platforms, parking lots, and other areas to help prevent theft, vandalism, and other crimes.
Maintain detailed records of incidents, disturbances, and unusual occurrences, and take accurate notes to support investigations and follow-up.
Assist employees, visitors, and contractors by providing information, directions, opening doors, and greeting them appropriately.
Provide polite, patient, and clear customer service.
