Base Engine Calibration Specialist

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

The Base Engine Calibration Specialist provides technical guidance and develops procedures and methodologies to produce base engine calibrations that meet program objectives for performance, control stability, fuel consumption, and engine-out and tailpipe emissions. The role covers setup and control of engine sensors and actuators across steady-state and transient operating conditions and leads engine hardware and systems testing, while supporting other teams with standardized and specialized engine test requests. Work spans different propulsion-system concepts, including varying levels of driveline electrification. The engineer plans and coordinates day-to-day activities on engine and powertrain dynamometers in collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers. The role develops test plans and timelines and prepares reports communicating program status to development and management teams. It evaluates new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry-over applications; analyzes and solves complex problems involving engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration; and manipulates and uses large, complex engine-mapping data sets. The engineer also participates in decisions about base engine hardware selection and calibration to achieve functional objectives.
