About The Position
The JW Marriott Reston Station Hotel is seeking a talented Bartender for Schar Bar, a vibrant lounge offering bold cocktails, curated Amaro selections, and shareable plates. This role involves maintaining the bar setup, stocking beverages and supplies, preparing garnishes, greeting guests, taking and preparing drink orders, handling payments, and ensuring compliance with alcohol service regulations. The hotel is a stunning 28-story landmark with 247 rooms, located conveniently along the Silver Line Metro, offering easy access to airports and the capital region. Schar Bar is described as a spirited escape where flavor meets finesse.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Ability to meet standards of appearance.
- Ability to communicate well with guests.
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.

- Adhere to hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality and attendance.

- Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job.
- Adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
Responsibilities
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks.
- Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
- Abides by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest.
- Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed.
- Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
- Complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
