About The Position

The Bartender at Upstate Tavern provides exceptional guest service and creates a welcoming, lively atmosphere. The role includes preparing drinks to specification, maintaining bar supplies and cleanliness, processing orders and payments, following alcohol-service laws and responsible-service procedures, and helping guests enjoy a memorable experience.

Requirements

Prior experience in alcohol beverage service.
Knowledge of liquor service standards, compliance laws, and responsible service techniques.
Ability to complete alcohol service training.
Working knowledge of acceptable forms of identification and ability to identify altered or false IDs.
Proficiency in counting money and making correct change.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to enter orders and settle checks using a Point-of-Sale system.
Proficiency in English.
Ability to create positive guest experiences that encourage repeat business.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent guest service and greet guests by name.
Stock beer, soda, liquor, glassware, and paper products at the start and end of each shift.
Prepare cocktails according to specifications and offer drink recommendations.
Keep the bar area clean and wash bar dishes.
Know where necessary items are located and use a checklist to ensure supplies are stocked.
Attend pre-shift meetings and stay informed about promotions and events.
Enter drink orders accurately into the POS system.
Use FLAG protocol when serving alcohol to guests under 35.
Follow all policies and applicable laws.
Identify signs of intoxication and stop service appropriately.
Ensure TVs are tuned to major sports or news channels.
Notify the supervisor of any issues.
Create positive guest experiences that encourage repeat business.
