About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. This role involves engaging with guests, making recommendations, adhering to legal requirements for alcohol service, and processing payments accurately. The Bartender also plays a role in stocking supplies, preparing garnishes and specialty drinks, and assisting servers. Participation in special events such as weddings, banquets, and holiday celebrations is expected. Additionally, the Bartender must monitor guest consumption, handle situations with intoxicated guests professionally, and complete various operational tasks including opening, closing, inventory, and cash handling.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift cases, kegs, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Virginia ABC certification or the ability to obtain certification as required.

  • Evening, weekend, holiday, and special event availability is preferred.
  • Previous bartending experience is preferred but not required for candidates willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and company standards.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and current menu offerings.
  • Make beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Verify guest identification and ensure compliance with all Virginia ABC laws and responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Accurately process orders and payments using point-of-sale systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of all bar areas.
  • Stock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies throughout each shift.
  • Prepare garnishes, syrups, mixers, and specialty beverages as required.
  • Assist servers by preparing beverage tickets promptly and accurately.
  • Participate in weddings, banquets, tournaments, member events, holiday celebrations, and other special functions.
  • Monitor guest consumption and professionally address situations involving intoxicated guests in accordance with company policy.
  • Complete opening, closing, inventory, cash handling, and side work responsibilities.
  • Support beverage operations.
