About The Position

Join Our Team at Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant! We’re looking for a dedicated PRN Bartender to support our warm, mission‑driven community. This flexible, as‑needed role offers a variety of shifts, including 3:00pm–8:00pm on select days and Sundays from 10:00am–4:00pm, with opportunities to pick up additional coverage as needed. The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by professionally greeting guests, preparing and serving beverages with accuracy and presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized bar or cart area. The role collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth operations while promoting a welcoming atmosphere. What You’ll Do as an LVMG Bartender: Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner. Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring proper garnishes and presentation. Arrange bar or cart supplies and glassware to create visually appealing displays. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar/cart area at all times. Accurately record all sales, collect payments, and operate the cash register in accordance with facility cash handling procedures. Prepare and/or sell food items as needed. Conduct inventory checks, assess stock levels, and submit orders or requisitions in a timely manner to ensure sufficient supply of all necessary items. Adhere to all departmental procedures and facility policies. Foster and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other departments to support seamless service. Promote a welcoming, positive, and calm atmosphere throughout the department. Attend and actively participate in workshops, seminars, and in-service training programs. Complete TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) training and successfully pass the competency test, as required by the Howard County Board of License Commissioners. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years bartending experience or formal training is preferred and should be verifiable.
  • Must comply with all state and local laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages, as required by the State of Maryland.
  • Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, including residents, staff, families, external vendors/authorities, and the public.
  • Strong attention to detail in writing, proofreading, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating a cooperative, respectful, and compassionate approach to colleagues and resident care.
  • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and technology.
  • Maintains professionalism, composure, and a positive attitude when managing challenging situations.
  • Physically able to move throughout the workday and lift items up to 25 pounds using safe handling practices.
  • May be necessary to assist with resident evacuation during emergency situations.
  • Complies with organizational health and safety requirements, including vaccination policies or valid exemptions.
