Requirements

  • Must have some restaurant experience.
  • Must be comfortable engaging guests and starting conversations with strangers.
  • Must be comfortable recognizing when someone is intoxicated and needs to no longer be served.
  • Reports to work on time and rarely misses scheduled shifts. Correctly follow the department attendance policy.
  • Associate to attend TIPS training and properly card guests who appear under 40 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Engage guests and start conversations with strangers.
  • Recognize when a guest is intoxicated and needs to no longer be served.
  • Assist servers when needed and help create a team environment.
  • Understand bistro setup and breakdown by following daily checklists.
  • Know and understand all menu items and their ingredients.
  • Explain and maintain QA specs and teach correct service lingo.
  • Explain and maintain Health Department Specs, including filling out daily temp logs, rotating product (first in, first out), and recording/disposing of expired product.
  • Explain all facets of job responsibilities and display the skills necessary to complete tasks.
  • Report to work on time and rarely miss scheduled shifts, following the department attendance policy.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate freely, expressing ideas, opinions, or views.
  • Communicate with management and other staff members.
  • Display a positive, courteous, and polite attitude and work well with others.
  • Take pride in appearance, reporting to work in complete uniform with proper shoes and socks, professionally dressed and neatly groomed.
  • Display a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns or department issues independently.
  • Utilize time well and be productive throughout the entire shift while meeting department standards.
  • Look for ways to save money by reducing waste and controlling expenses.
  • Try to generate more revenue by offering ideas and suggestive selling to guests.
  • Keep work area neat and clean, picking up trash in public and back-of-house areas.
  • Know where to recycle items and consistently place them in appropriate bins and recycling stations.
  • Follow AHC safety standards.
  • Attend TIPS training and properly card guests who appear under 40 years of age.
  • Answer the telephone, take room service and delivery orders, prepare these orders accurately, and deliver following QA guidelines.
  • Actively take care of each guest according to Marriott and department standards.
  • Monitor food waste.
  • Maintain bistro cleanliness and overall deep cleaning.
  • Attend Department Meetings.
  • Communicate with management or team members.
  • Follow hotel green policies.
  • Follow Marriott and Health Department Specs.
  • Actively work in the bistro in designated areas: counter service, barista, running food, table service, room service.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities asked by the General Manager or Food and Beverage Manager.
