About The Position

The Barista is an essential member of the café team and helps foster a culture of excellence. The role requires demonstrating and upholding Ascension Coffee’s standards during all shifts by sharing knowledge and experience. Baristas prepare specialty beverages, provide high-level guest service, maintain working knowledge of coffee-related equipment, and contribute to an inclusive, quality-focused team culture.

Requirements

• Specialty coffee experience.
• Good organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and intuitive resourcefulness.
• Strong initiative and self-management skills, and willingness to take direction.
• Open availability, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, approximately eight hours each workday.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform repetitive range-of-motion activities.

Responsibilities

• Craft specialty coffee, tea, and liquor beverages.
• Ensure all beverages served meet Ascension standards.
• Demonstrate and uphold the highest level of guest service.
• Maintain working knowledge of coffee-related equipment and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Continually expand knowledge of specialty coffee, tea, the alcohol program, and hospitality.
• Receive and implement feedback quickly.
• Build strong interpersonal connections with people of all skill levels.
• Participate in an inclusive, quality-focused culture and use thoughtful communication with team members, customers, and consumers.
