About The Position

The Barista contributes to a welcoming environment by preparing and serving coffee, tea, and specialty drinks while delivering customer service. The role includes taking orders, handling transactions, maintaining a clean workspace, and ensuring beverage quality and consistency in a fast-paced environment.

The position follows healthcare foodservice standards, regulations, guidelines, and procedures. Duties include monitoring food temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, maintaining personal hygiene, labeling and storing food and equipment properly, preparing and serving food according to menu and dietary requirements, answering questions about recipe ingredients and food allergies, and ensuring appropriate portions and presentation. Depending on assignment, work may also include retail foodservice, patient tray service, food preparation, utility tasks, catering, inventory, and cleaning.

Requirements

• One year of food service experience.
• Food Handler Permit for Texas, within 30 days.
• ServSafe Certification, within 30 days.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate in General Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience, upon hire.
• High school GED in General Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience, upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, specialty drinks, and food while ensuring quality and consistency.
• Engage with customers, take orders, handle transactions, and provide a high-quality customer experience.
• Follow foodservice standards, regulations, guidelines, and procedures, including monitoring food temperatures and preventing cross-contamination.
• Adhere to personal hygiene requirements and maintain proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery.
• Prepare and serve food in accordance with menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of recipe ingredients to respond to food allergy questions or requests.
• Ensure proper meal portions and aesthetically pleasing presentation.
• Depending on assignment, serve and stock a coffee shop, cashier, serve in the retail area, assemble and deliver or retrieve patient trays, perform cold food preparation, wash dishes and pots and pans, maintain equipment, perform catering duties, support inventory maintenance, and clean equipment and work areas.
• Maintain a clean workspace.
