About The Position

Baristas at Blank Street help shape the customer experience by serving drinks and providing welcoming, attentive hospitality. As part of the founding Los Angeles team, the barista will help establish how Blank Street operates and represents its brand as it expands. The role involves working with a close-knit team, serving a focused menu, and preparing drinks to company standards while helping create memorable customer experiences.

The position includes training and development, use of company equipment and products, maintaining cafe standards, and supporting events and promotions. The posting offers both part-time and full-time schedules: part-time is 15–25 hours over 3 days per week, and full-time is 30–40 hours over 4–5 days per week. Both schedules require availability for two peak days, which are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in hospitality or coffee.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to lift more than 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Availability that meets cafe needs, including two peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) for either schedule.
• Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about hospitality.
• Adaptable, open-minded, and flexible as the company grows and changes.
• Attentive to detail and takes pride in getting details right.
• Acts with ownership to help shifts run smoothly and efficiently.
• Passionate about coffee and/or matcha and able to share that enthusiasm with customers.
• Comfortable working on a diverse team and bringing together different personalities.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality, aiming to turn customers into regulars.
• Contribute to the team using the company’s equipment, coffee, and matcha.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment in accordance with local Department of Health and Blank Street standards.
• Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions to introduce the brand to new customers.
• Continue training and developing with the company, improving standards and processes.
• Learn and follow company procedures, including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing procedures.
