About The Position

A Barista prepares coffee and espresso-based beverages while providing friendly, efficient customer service. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of coffee preparation, and a commitment to creating a positive guest experience. The Barista takes orders, offers recommendations, processes payments, maintains a clean and organized coffee station, and works with team members to support smooth service. Duties may be added or modified as necessary. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Food Handlers Card required.
• Alcohol Awareness Card required.
• Genuine passion for coffee and knowledge of bean origins, brewing techniques, and espresso-based beverages.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor.
• Attention to detail and ability to prepare beverages accurately and consistently.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with customers, taking orders, and providing recommendations.
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing trends and customer preferences.
• Proficiency in processing payments and providing accurate change.
• Ability to manage multiple orders and tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and maintain a positive work environment.
• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift bags of coffee beans or milk containers.
• Ability to read and communicate verbally in English; written English communication may also be required.
• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee and espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos, according to recipes and quality standards.
• Greet guests, take accurate orders, and provide personalized recommendations.
• Customize beverages to meet special requests, dietary preferences, and desired flavor profiles.
• Process payments, operate the cash register, and handle cash accurately.
• Stay informed about coffee offerings, bean origins, brewing methods, and seasonal specials to share product information with customers.
• Maintain a clean and organized coffee station and sanitize equipment and utensils.
• Present beverages attractively and ensure they meet quality standards.
• Suggest additional menu items, such as pastries or specialty drinks.
• Communicate and collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and support service during busy periods.
