About The Position

Provides barbering services to authorized military and civilian personnel at a main branch or location haircare facility. This role supports the mission of providing customers with quality goods and services at a savings and to support quality of life programs for active-duty military, retirees, reservists, and their families.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of barber culture or cosmetology.
Possession of a valid State License in Barbering or cosmetology.
Must attach a current Barber / Cosmetology license.
Candidates selected for hire who possess a U.S. State License in Cosmetology from a State other than the State the position is located must obtain a valid State License in Barbering or Cosmetology in the State the position is located within six months from the date of hire.
Must be medically screened and determined to be free of communicable diseases prior to initial assignment.

Responsibilities

Provides barbering hair care services including shampooing, conditioning, cutting, shaping, shaving, and styling hair, mustaches, and beards.
Massages neck, face, and scalp.
Checks client's scalp and hair for visible disorders that might interfere with requested services.
Consults with clients on their hair care needs.
Maintains combs in solution and sanitizes equipment.
Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the designated workstation and shop.
Makes minor repairs on equipment such as replacing switches, plugs, and cords.
Operates cash register, prepares hair care chits, collects and accounts for cash, and balances daily sales.
Sells hair care products to clients and maintains the Daily Appointment Book.
May open and close the shop.
Assists with monthly inventory.
Carries out a policy of courtesy and customer service, ensuring 100% client satisfaction.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
