The Banquets Steward is responsible for performing general or specialized cleaning and other miscellaneous unskilled tasks. This role involves transferring food, china, glassware, and silverware to banquet areas, and assisting the culinary department with food transportation, buffet setup, and breakdown. The position requires operating dishwashing equipment, cleaning various surfaces and kitchen equipment, and managing garbage removal. Additionally, the steward will set up and break down buffet lines, handle breakdown stations at functions, and ensure all items are properly organized for washing. The role also includes polishing silverware and other silver items, completing assignments in a timely manner, and reporting equipment in need of repair. Other duties may include assisting with inventory. The working conditions involve kitchen noise, loud voices, and operating equipment, as well as outdoor work for function setup/breakdown in various weather conditions. The role may involve getting wet during cleaning tasks. The position requires flexibility in shifts and days, with the possibility of working over 40 hours per week. Equipment used includes dishwashing machines, floor buffers, pressure washers, food warmers, and various transport vehicles. Mental and physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, lifting and carrying over 50 lbs, pushing/pulling carts over 50 lbs, and bending, stooping, and reaching. Verbal communication with employees and managers is necessary, along with the ability to follow verbal instructions.
