About The Position

Cascade Hotel Kansas City, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is seeking a Banquet Server to join their Food & Beverage team. This role is crucial in creating exceptional events through attentive service, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. The Banquet Server is responsible for the setup, service, and breakdown of various banquet and catered events, working closely with multiple hotel departments to ensure successful execution according to established standards and event specifications. The ideal candidate will be dependable, service-oriented, detail-attentive, and comfortable in a fast-paced event setting.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain required Kansas City, Missouri food and beverage permits within applicable timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, carry trays, and move throughout banquet and event spaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Must comply with hotel uniform, grooming, and professional behavior standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous banquet, restaurant, catering, hotel, or hospitality experience.
  • Previous experience serving plated meals, buffets, receptions, or large events.
  • Knowledge of banquet service standards and proper food and beverage service techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, professional, and welcoming service during banquet and catered events.
  • Set banquet rooms, tables, service stations, and event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event specifications.
  • Serve plated meals, buffets, hors d'oeuvres, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and other food and beverage offerings professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain knowledge of event menus, service expectations, timelines, and special guest requirements.
  • Refill beverages, clear tables, and respond promptly to guest requests throughout events.
  • Monitor guest needs and communicate service opportunities or concerns to banquet leadership.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked banquet and service areas before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with event breakdown, resetting rooms, and properly storing furniture, equipment, linens, and service items.
  • Communicate effectively with Culinary, Event Management, Banquet leadership, and fellow associates to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and hotel procedures.
  • Maintain a polished and professional appearance throughout each event.
  • Support other Food & Beverage operations as business needs require.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
