About The Position

The Banquet Manager at Wellsworth Hotel is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the banquet department. This includes directing and implementing a service and management philosophy that prioritizes quality customer service. The role involves training employees, managing performance, handling guest complaints, and ensuring compliance with daily operational procedures. The manager must maintain high standards for food and beverage safety and quality, establish and train staff on operational procedures and safe working conditions, and develop financial objectives for the department. Responsibilities also include managing employee performance, overseeing the department's annual budget, and communicating effectively with the General Manager and other department heads. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in banquet operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • ServSafe and/or food safety training.
  • Alcohol awareness training (such as TIPS).
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing tools for banquets and BEO’s.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations and use required measurement tools.
  • Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.

Responsibilities

  • Management of all aspects of the department.
  • Direct, implement, and maintain a service and management philosophy emphasizing quality customer service.
  • Train employees, plan, assign, and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Banquet Department.
  • Maintain food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.
  • Establish, maintain, and train standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department.
  • Develop accurate and aggressive short- and long-range financial objectives for the Banquet Department consistent with property objectives.
  • Respond to and handle all guest-related issues pertaining to the department.
  • Ensure communication with General Manager, all other Department Managers, Supervisors and Staff.
  • Manage all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment.
  • Maintain and be responsible for the Banquet Department’s annual budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
