About The Position

The Banquet Cook II prepares food items according to production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. The role supports hotel banquets and events by preparing high-volume dishes with precision and consistency, following recipes and portion standards, and helping ensure food is ready for plated dinners, receptions, and other events.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent experience.
At least one year of food service or related work experience.
Valid, unexpired food handler's certification.
Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures sufficient to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.
Ability to see that products are prepared appropriately.
Ability to meet the role's physical demands, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items weighing up to 70 pounds; periodic climbing; bending; regular mobility; and continuous standing.

Responsibilities

Prepare food of consistent quality by following recipe cards, production and portion standards, and server dupes.
Start food items that are prepared ahead of time while avoiding overproduction beyond estimated needs.
Date food containers and rotate items according to SOP; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use and determine required preparation, freezer pulls, and line setup.
Note out-of-stock items and possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to address food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to SOP.
Maintain a safe, sanitary work environment.
