About The Position

The Bankruptcy Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for analyzing, auditing and reconciling various reports throughout the Bankruptcy process. This role is also responsible for complying with all guidelines and requirements set forth by government agencies, private investors, master servicers and bankruptcy laws. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. Interface: External – with trustees and attorneys Internal – within the bankruptcy, escrow, cash and other departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years combined financial services, mortgage servicing
  • Past experience working with loan level data base files (Cenbase,Excel, LPS, or other types of loan servicing systems)
  • Loan servicing experience specifically in the areas of Bankruptcy
  • Applicant must demonstrate ability to work independently and manage several projects at the same time
  • Ability to identify and quantify operational risk in various functions
  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well with others
  • Strong MicrosoftExcel background
  • Requirements under Bankruptcy laws, specifically Chapters 7, 9, 11, 12, & 13.
  • Regulation X (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act) Escrow Accounts.
  • Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), specifically Periodic Statements for Residential Mortgage Loans, and Prohibited Acts or Practices and Certain Requirements for Credit Secured by a Dwelling.
  • Regulation V (Fair Credit Reporting Act) specifically, Reasonable Policies and Procedures Concerning the Accuracy and Integrity of Furnished Information.
  • Servicemember Civil Relief Act, specifically Maximum Rate of Interest on Debts Incurred before Military Service.
  • Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), specifically Rules on Providing Appraisals and Other Valuations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2+ years audit, accounting, quality control testing, risk management, financial analysis, or similar experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partners with Bankruptcy leadership to build new reports and help automate manual processes as needed
  • Audits bankruptcy files for compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Analyzes and reconciles Chapters 11, 12 and 13 files annually to ensure proper posting of Trustee payments
  • Performs final Chapters 11, 12 and 13 reconciliations within 30 days of discharge
  • Performs final Chapter 11, 12 and 13 reconciliations within 24 hours of dismissal
  • Analyzes and audit funds placed in suspense to ensure the funds are credited to the correct suspense bucket
  • Applies suspense funds to the correct post or pre-petition payment
  • Audits the daily suspense reports and aging reports
  • Analyzes Trustee ledgers as needed
  • Analyzes payment histories
  • Analyzes Chapters 11, 12 and 13 loans for post-petition fee notice filings
  • Analyzes Chapter 7 asset loans for state mandated completion requirements
  • Provides reporting support when needed within the Bankruptcy Department
  • Completes other duties as assigned
