About The Position

Kobre & Kim is seeking a bankruptcy litigation lawyer for its U.S. offices to work on high-stakes restructuring/bankruptcy and other debtor-creditor disputes, often with a cross-border element. The role involves representing debtors, creditors, committees, foreign insolvency representatives, and other stakeholders in insolvency-related disputes and investigations, frequently as special litigation counsel in Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings. The position will also encompass creditor-debtor disputes and creditor remedies both inside and outside of bankruptcy court, with an emphasis on international asset recovery and judgment enforcement engagements. The firm seeks candidates with substantial litigation skills, a focus on distressed companies, and an interest in cross-border work and unique strategic approaches.

Requirements

• Graduated law school between 2023 - 2020
• Juris Doctorate Degree
• Strong litigation and bankruptcy/restructuring experience

Responsibilities

• Work on high-stakes restructuring/bankruptcy and other debtor-creditor disputes, often with a cross-border element.
• Represent debtors, creditors, committees, foreign insolvency representatives, and other stakeholders in insolvency-related disputes and investigations.
• Serve as special litigation counsel in Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings.
• Engage in creditor-debtor disputes and creditor remedies both inside and outside of bankruptcy court.
• Utilize insolvency and restructuring tools to craft unique strategies for international asset recovery and judgment enforcement engagements.
• Collaborate on cross-border teams handling matters involving criminal defense and regulatory enforcement; internal investigations; civil and commercial litigation; class actions; judgment enforcement and asset recovery; and financial products and services disputes.
• Address the client’s entire problem, not just the legal aspects.
• Develop unconventional legal strategies that deal with clients’ real problems.
• Take an aggressive and creative approach to law to understand and resolve client challenges.
• Use the law as a tool to solve clients’ most complex issues.
• Find new ways to attack a problem beyond conventional lawyering.
