About The Position

Coloma Community Schools is seeking a part-time Band Assistant for the 2026–27 school year to work with students in grades 5–12. The Band Assistant supports the band director and students with rehearsals, performances, instrument setup and maintenance, materials, equipment, small-group and individual practice, fundraising, and other administrative tasks. The position requires at least 15 hours per week during school hours, with additional hours—including evenings and weekends—as needed. Duties may be added, removed, or changed at the employer’s discretion.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience playing a musical instrument, preferably in a school band setting.
• Ability to work well with students and other staff members.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Availability for at least 15 hours per week during school hours (three hours per day).
• Availability to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the band director in preparing for rehearsals and performances.
• Help students with instrument setup and maintenance.
• Organize and distribute sheet music and other materials.
• Attend rehearsals and performances to support the band director and students.
• Set up and tear down equipment for rehearsals and performances.
• Assist with small-group and one-on-one practices.
• Assist with fundraising and other administrative tasks related to the band program.
