About The Position

All City Band reports to the Visual and Performing Arts Director and Department. The role involves conducting weekly rehearsals and additional rehearsals as needed, directing the Ensemble’s performances, and completing necessary planning and administration. The Ensemble may participate in fall and spring Ensembles Concerts and other projects and programs. The contract runs from November 12, 2026 through April 15, 2027, for a flat rate of $1,700.

Requirements

• Must be a VPA teacher.
• Must be a CPSD teacher.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly rehearsals and additional rehearsals as necessary.
• Direct musical performances for school and public audiences, following safety guidelines.
• Create the production calendar in collaboration with the school and VPA department.
• Apply a social justice approach and equity lens throughout the process.
• Collaborate professionally with other music directors and ensembles when partnering.
• Design and conduct recruitment and outreach programs to attract young musicians.
• Rehearse with students to help them master their parts.
• Coordinate with the VPA department to arrange necessary support staff, such as additional musicians and accompanists.
• Complete necessary planning and administration.
• Adhere to the formal process required before anyone is permitted to begin work.
