BAKERY PRODUCTION SPECIALIST
About The Position
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a master chef or bakery production specialist to drive a team of workforce professionals. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of an Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI) bakery. The role involves supervising operations when necessary, ensuring the accuracy of all incoming or outgoing products or materials, inventory management of raw and finished goods and all operational support equipment. The specialist will communicate accurate data, both verbal and written, on the status of operations as required by management, and control and maintain all safety regulations and quality assurance programs. This role also enforces daily sanitation and security practices in accordance with ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
- Knowledge of various management techniques for the assigned inmate workforce
- Knowledge of inventory control methods and techniques
- Knowledge of equipment and materials utilized in the operations of a bakery
- Knowledge of Divisional and Departmental policies and procedures, including fire and safety standards and regulations
- Knowledge of security requirements and practices
- Skill in directing, supervising, and evaluating inmate worker activities
- Skill in the operational activities related to a bakery, including the operations and maintenance of equipment and machinery utilized
- Skill in written and verbal communication
- Skill in computer applications
- Ability to lift/carry approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/run approximately .75 miles
- Ability to interpret ADCRR policy and procedures
- Ability to supervise an inmate workforce
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate a computer relating to the ERP system, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a correctional environment
- Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
- Must complete all required driver training
- Must successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
- Must maintain acceptable driving records
- Must maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business
- Must take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter
- Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
Nice To Haves
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a fast-paced production environment
- Vocational courses at a post-secondary level in a related field with supervisory seminars and training
Responsibilities
- Works with the supervisor in setting up daily work assignments and other daily bakery activities
- Maintains training records for all workforce participants
- Supervises the assigned workforce
- Provides hands-on training for workforce participants on the ERP system, clerical work, reports, and various inventory processes and methods
- Provides oversight for the auditing, document accuracy, and entering of data in the ERP system
- Audits all incoming and outgoing products or materials to ensure they match the provided documents
- Provides security by closely monitoring workforce participant activities
- Ensures the safe operation of machinery utilized in the bakery and safety of surrounding areas
- Reviews inmate hours and pay in ACIS for accuracy, makes any necessary changes
- Ensures all workforce participants are paid on time and correctly
- Attends staff trainings
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
