About The Position

The Bakery Clerk proofs and bakes unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information, using ovens and other equipment. The clerk unpacks frozen bakery goods and displays appropriate quantities based on production charts, while following safe handling and storage instructions. The role also includes packaging and decorating bakery products, preparing goods for the next business day, assisting members with questions and special orders, and maintaining product freshness, accurate pricing, and department cleanliness and safety.

The clerk supports club policies and procedures, delivers friendly member service, contributes to a safe and inclusive environment, and works with the team to meet daily GOLD member and club standards. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function. Other duties may be assigned, including work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; may need to lift and move heavy or awkward objects over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, push, or stoop to examine or scan merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about bakery items, recommend products, answer member calls, and take special orders.
• Proof and bake unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information using ovens and other equipment.
• Use bakery production charts to guide production and display quantities and gather products for preparation for the next business day.
• Package freshly baked goods, including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, and cakes.
• Unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display appropriate quantities based on production chart recommendations.
• Decorate special-order or case products.
• Receive, inspect, rotate, and store bakery shipments and products according to food safety, freshness, and product handling policies and procedures.
• Ensure products are fresh and meet company quality standards; check daily for out-of-date products and follow salvage and stale-product procedures.
• Generate labels and price tickets, perform price checks as needed, and ensure items are accurately priced.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces, including ovens, utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables.
• Operate and handle bakery equipment using safe work methods and applicable policies and procedures.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support their application and compliance.
• Work with team members to deliver daily GOLD club standards, keep items stocked, execute promotional plans, maintain accurate signage, and keep the club clean and organized.
• Deliver service excellence, address and deescalate member concerns, and help ensure a safe, positive member experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
