About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous customer service and assists customers with product selections, including suggestive selling. The role handles bakery products from delivery through display and sale, including packaging fresh-baked products, slicing and wrapping bread, stocking and maintaining displays, and baking cookies. The clerk also orders decorated cakes from the bakery plant, prepares outdated products for thrift stores, and cleans the work area and equipment according to company safety and sanitation procedures. Training is provided at the store level. Candidates must be available between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on weekends. The position offers 20–25 hours per week.

Requirements

• Must be available to work between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on weekends.
• Must be able to bend and stoop.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which may last 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

• For store/facility teammates applying internally, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
• If invited to interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling.
• Process incoming products from the bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors.
• Package fresh-baked products.
• Slice and wrap fresh-baked bread.
• Stock product displays in cases and on shelves.
• Rotate product and straighten displays.
• Prepare outdated product for thrift stores.
• Order decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
• Bake cookies.
• Clean the work area and equipment in accordance with company safety and sanitation procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
