About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous customer service and helps customers select bakery products, including through suggestive selling. The role processes incoming bakery products, packages and prepares baked goods, stocks and maintains displays, and performs routine cleaning in accordance with company safety and sanitation procedures. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned by store management. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Internal candidates are subject to additional employment, standing, and manager-approval requirements.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.
Must be able to bend and stoop.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
If invited to interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Assist customers with product selections, including suggestive selling.
Process incoming products from the bakery plant and direct store delivery vendors.
Package fresh-baked products.
Slice and wrap fresh-baked bread.
Stock product displays in cases and on shelves.
Rotate products and straighten displays.
Prepare out-dated products for thrift stores.
Order decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
Bake cookies.
Clean the work area and equipment according to company safety and sanitation procedures.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
