About The Position

The Baker assists with work in the kitchen’s baked goods area, including the preparation and production of baked items. The role requires working collaboratively with co-workers, following food-cost, labor-cost, and quality controls, completing assigned side work, and keeping the workstation properly stocked, set up, and clean throughout the shift. The Baker follows sanitation standards and performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products.

Requirements

• Reading and math skills to follow recipes and measurements.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to complete food requisitions, menus, and recipes, communicate with employees, and follow written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to work in hot, normal, and cold temperature ranges.
• Sufficient hand dexterity to use knives and kitchen tools, including small, delicate knives requiring fine finger dexterity.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment, including a bread slicer, mixers, and ovens.
• Ability to grasp, bend, lift, and/or carry up to 60 lbs., or move or push goods on a cart or rack weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule.
• Ability to stand, move, and work throughout the workstation for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to walk and work 90 percent of the time, up to a maximum of two miles per shift.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and production of baked items.
• Work with co-workers to complete job assignments.
• Adhere to food-cost, labor-cost, and quality-control procedures.
• Complete assigned side work, including replenishing and restocking workstation supplies.
• Check the station before, during, and after the shift for proper setup and cleanliness.
• Follow sanitation standards and keep the workstation neat and orderly using a clean-as-you-go approach.
• Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned.
• Communicate with the supervisor throughout the shift.
