About The Position

As a Baker, you will delight our clients by preparing and baking goods to the highest standards of Dexterra. This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment. The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with amenities such as provided meals and accommodations, travel from Edmonton Airport, private rooms with cable television, access to Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a gym, and common areas.

Requirements

FoodSafe Level I is a minimum.
Minimum 3 years’ baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
Proven experience preparing baked goods for large number of guests
Prior supervisory experience
Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Health Assessment is required
Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds
Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).

Nice To Haves

SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

Supervising night shift employees; providing mentorship and training
Identify areas of improvement on the overall operation as necessary
Preparing and baking goods from scratch
Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods
Creating and following menus to ensure quality of baked goods and desserts
Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-all work areas
