Haley Bagging Machine Operator Pear Line Days
About The Position
The Bagging Machine Operator maintains the efficiency and operation of the bagging machine and ensures the timely and accurate operation of the station. This is a full-time, year-round position on the pear line at Old Station, working the day shift. The stated schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours may vary depending on production. A pre-employment drug test is required. The operator maintains and cleans the machine, learns its programs and settings to maximize efficiency, and directs a crew of 2 to 6 employees packing bags from the machine. The role requires keeping pace with the production line, maintaining an efficient and clean work area, knowing Stemilt fruit grades, compiling and distributing daily data, and continually striving to improve the machine’s bagging capabilities. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to read and understand Stemilt pack schedules.
- Oracle and Discoverer capabilities.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to read, speak, and write English.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Mechanical inclination.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and clean the bagging machine as necessary.
- Learn machine programs and settings to maximize efficiency.
- Direct a crew of 2 to 6 employees packing bags from the machine.
- Communicate effectively.

- Consistently strive to improve the machine’s bagging capabilities.
- Compile daily data and send it to the appropriate groups.
- Use available tools to maximize grower returns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
