About The Position
The Haley Bagging Machine Operator maintains the efficiency and operation of the bagging machine and ensures the station operates accurately and on time. The role includes maintaining and cleaning the machine, learning its programs and settings, directing a crew of 2 to 6 employees, keeping pace with the production line, and maintaining a clean, efficient work area. The operator also compiles daily data for appropriate groups and works to improve bagging capabilities and maximize grower returns. This is a full-time, year-round position with six openings on A line at Old Station. The stated schedule is 3:45 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Friday; hours may vary depending on production. A pre-employment drug test is required. The position may include duties beyond those listed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagram-form instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to read and understand Stemilt pack schedules.
- Oracle and Discoverer capabilities.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to read, speak, and write English.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Mechanical inclination.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and clean the bagging machine as necessary.
- Learn machine programs and settings to maximize efficiency.
- Direct a crew of 2 to 6 employees packing bags from the machine.
- Communicate effectively and maintain pace with the production line.
- Maintain an efficient and clean work area.
- Know Stemilt fruit grades.
- Continuously work to improve the machine's bagging capabilities.
- Compile daily data and send it to appropriate groups.
- Use available tools to maximize grower returns.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
