About The Position

Currently Hiring a dependable and hardworking Baggage Handling System Encoder / Jam Runner to join our client's team at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. This is a physically demanding position which requires on-the-job security training and the ability to receive all applicable airport security badges.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and all required background checks.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain all airport security clearances and badges.
Must be able to complete all required training, including airport security and compliance training.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and airport personnel.
Ability to consistently lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the entire shift.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach for extended periods during the shift.
Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment.
Candidates must be able to pass a TSA-required background investigation and participate in ongoing drug screening as required by airport and company policies.

Responsibilities

Lift and place luggage onto and off conveyor belt systems.
Load luggage carts as needed.
Transport baggage between designated airport locations.
Clear baggage system jams and assist in maintaining system efficiency.
Encode and route misread baggage to its correct destination.
Follow directions from Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Airline personnel during normal and irregular operations.
Identify and report issues that may lead to system malfunctions or operational disruptions.
Provide excellent customer service and assistance when needed.
Perform light cleaning and maintenance duties within the work area.
Complete other duties as assigned.
