This hands-on role owns the backend systems behind the product, including its real-time connection layer, API, job pipeline, and cloud infrastructure. The position will harden and scale existing foundations as the product grows globally, while keeping systems fast, safe for children, and affordable. Responsibilities

  • Own the API and job queues used for sticker requests.
  • Maintain the health and reliability of the real-time connection layer in partnership with the firmware engineer.
  • Tune and extend autoscaling to support holiday traffic spikes and a growing device fleet, partnering with the ML Serving engineer on GPU inference.
  • Improve observability through metrics, logs, tracing, and alerts.
  • Build cost instrumentation to track the costs of requests, models, and services.
  • Own release engineering for server-side services, including safe deployments, database migrations, and rapid rollback.
