About The Position

We are seeking a Cloud Native Backend Engineer with strong Java or Python development experience, AWS expertise, and a background in building APIs and microservices. The engineer will support enterprise data platform capabilities, with a primary focus on multi-region resiliency and additional responsibilities involving data lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing cloud-native applications, designing databases, automating deployments, and building resilient services in AWS environments.

The role is located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Local candidates are preferred, and an in-person interview is required. The client is accepting W-2 candidates only; C2C, 1099, and third-party resumes are not accepted. Due to the nature of the role, only U.S. citizens, green card holders, or green card EAD holders are accepted.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of applied software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java or Python.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Hands-on AWS experience with ECS, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS, Glue, S3, RDS, and Route 53.
• Strong SQL, database modeling, and database design skills.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins and Bitbucket.
• Working knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code.
• Basic understanding of workflow orchestration.
• Understanding of cloud-native application development, resiliency, and distributed systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience implementing multi-region resiliency and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Familiarity with data reconciliation across cloud platforms.
• Experience with data retention, archiving, and lifecycle management.
• Exposure to enterprise data platforms and cloud-based data services.
