About The Position

Cedar Hills Recreation Center is seeking instructors to teach classes to youth and teens about babysitting and being home alone. The babysitting course is designed to help youth and teens learn what it takes to be a responsible, caring, trustworthy, capable, and safe babysitter. The home alone course prepares them to be safe and responsible while being home alone. We are seeking flexible team members with the ability to support the needs of individuals, as well as manage groups of students, all while teaching introductory skills in their respective program area. Classes take place both indoors and outdoors, with an emphasis on safety and recreational fun! We are currently hiring part-time instructors for the fall, winter, & spring, with the ability to continue year-round.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 1-year of experience in leading and instructing general classes and be at least 16 years of age (for Instructor II).
  • Must have at least 2-years of experience in leading and instructing general classes and be at least 18 years of age (for Instructor III).
  • Required to have First Aid/CPR certification OR ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Required to have babysitters and childcare teaching certifications OR ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Experience and expertise in teaching youth or leading group programs in the related position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse participants.
  • Passion for creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
  • Maintaining a neat and professional appearance to abide by dress code policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, organize, and instruct recreational programs.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for participants of all ages and skill levels.
  • Develop and implement engaging curriculum and activities to meet program goals.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during programs.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and support to participants to enhance their learning experience.
  • Create and prepare instructional materials, equipment, and supplies in advance to support effective program delivery.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with participants, parents/guardians, to support smooth program operations.
  • Uphold organizational policies, values, and commitments to equity, inclusion, and community engagement.
