About The Position

The BA Counselor plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals facing challenges related to substance use and mental health. This position focuses on developing personalized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and interventions. The counselor will work collaboratively with clients to foster a safe and supportive environment, promoting recovery and personal growth. Additionally, the BA Counselor will engage with community resources and support networks to enhance the overall well-being of clients. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to empower individuals to achieve their recovery goals and improve their quality of life.

Requirements

  • BA with at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to person with mental illness Or
  • BA and fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met;
  • Has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR
  • Is a graduate student in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training OR
  • Holds a master's or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and has less than 4,000 hours post-master's experience in the treatment of mental illness.
  • TCM Exemption for services provided to non-English speaking clients Received at least “meets expectations” on annual appraisals, no outstanding performance improvement issues, competency in all listed accountabilities, and needed work ethic, attitude and conflict resolution skills
