About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain & Procurement within the larger AIS organization works to deliver solutions to source, build and maintain our socially responsible data center supply chains. We are a team of highly-motivated, engaged, and responsive professionals who enable the core sustainable infrastructure of AWS. The Strategic Sourcing Software Manager at AWS leads the development and execution of software acquisition strategies for our Hardware and Networking divisions. This role combines strategic sourcing expertise with deep understanding of software ecosystems and CPU/GPU technologies to secure critical software solutions that power AWS's infrastructure. You'll work across engineering teams, legal, and vendors to optimize our software portfolio while ensuring competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving cloud computing landscape.

Requirements

  • Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration required
  • Experience in technology sourcing and vendor management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in software licensing and strategic sourcing
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and program management
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication abilities

  • Master's degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources, or related field, or PMP certificate
  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
  • Experience designing, implementing, and scaling workforce development programs across large-scale operations, including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions
  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations across leadership and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive software sourcing strategies aligned with AWS's technical roadmap
  • Lead complex negotiations for software agreements and licenses across multiple vendors
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key software partners and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and evaluate solutions
  • Analyze spend data and market trends to identify cost optimization opportunities
  • Drive process improvements in software acquisition and lifecycle management
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies
  • Manage cross-functional programs with significant business impact
