About The Position

We are seeking an experienced AWS/Java Developer to join our team. The role involves building and managing cloud solutions using various AWS services, developing Java-based applications, and modernizing legacy systems. You will collaborate with stakeholders, design and test cloud-native applications, and ensure adherence to best practices in coding, security, and performance optimization. This position requires strong communication skills and experience with DevOps and data pipeline development.

Requirements

Proficient in using various AWS services including VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, and Athena to build and manage cloud solutions.
Experience in software development with hands-on skills in Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework, and hibernate technology.
Experience in modernizing applications, including refactoring, migration, and cloud-native development.
Knowledge of modern database technologies and strategies for migrating and modernizing database systems.
Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including developers, business analysts, and other team members.
Experience working with transactional or RDMS databases.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum Framework environments.

Nice To Haves

Experience with data analytics and business intelligence solutions such as Power BI or AWS QuickSight.
Knowledge or experience using ETL tools.
AWS Certification.
Experience working within a government environment.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies.
Design, develop, and test Java-based, cloud-native applications and backend systems.
Utilize AWS services within application architecture.
Develop, test, debug, and deliver within timeline using best tools and best practices available.
Participate in code reviews, ensure security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code.
Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
Ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
Work with product managers, business stakeholders, and other team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
Create AWS ETL jobs and data pipelines with high volumes of data.
Modernize legacy applications, including refactoring or migrating in-house legacy applications to the cloud environment.
Utilize AWS services and related components towards building enterprise level Data Lakes.
