About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for an Awake Night Staff at Southern California Treatment Program in Torrance and San Pedro, CA. This role involves providing overnight safety and around-the-clock supervision for residential youth, promoting a professional and supportive atmosphere. The position requires monitoring and documenting behaviors, participating in educational and recreational activities, and collaborating with other departments to achieve youth treatment plan goals. The program is located in a community known for its cultural diversity, sunny weather, and proximity to educational institutions, offering an inspiring and supportive environment for personal and professional growth.

Requirements

• Demonstrate empathy, patience, respect, and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test.
• Possess a current State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Have relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice, either as a mentor or caregiver.
• Possess one of the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Child Development Teaching Permit, 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Psychology, certification as an Alcohol or Drug Counselor, or one year of full-time experience in a group home, therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight safety and around-the-clock supervision for residential youth.
• Promote a professional and supportive atmosphere.
• Monitor and document youth behaviors and actions.
• Participate and assist with educational and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to establish and meet the goals of each youth’s treatment plan.
