About The Position

Rite of Passage's Southern California Treatment Program is seeking passionate advocates to join their team as Awake Night Staff. This role involves providing overnight safety and around-the-clock supervision for residential youth, fostering a professional and supportive atmosphere. The position is located in Tustin, Placentia, and Costa Mesa, CA, within a community known for its cultural diversity and proximity to educational institutions. The program aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of youth, offering opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Requirements

• Demonstrate empathy, patience, respect, and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test.
• Possess a current State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Have relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice, either as a mentor or caregiver.
• Possess one of the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Child Development Teaching Permit, 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Psychology, certification as an Alcohol or Drug Counselor, or one year of full-time experience in a group home, therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight safety and around-the-clock supervision for residential youth.
• Promote a professional and supportive atmosphere.
• Monitor and document youth behaviors and actions.
• Participate and assist with educational and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to establish and meet the goals of each youth’s treatment plan.
