About The Position

GIC is seeking an AVP, Operational Due Diligence to join their Global Investment Services (GIS) department. GIS provides strategic investment services and financial management across GIC’s public and private market asset classes, focusing on developing and executing business infrastructure plans and shaping scalable operating models. The Operational Due Diligence team is responsible for conducting due diligence on public and private market funds, with a headquarters in Singapore and a local team in New York. This role is integral to supporting public and private market activities by partnering with the business to provide essential services.

Requirements

Strong academic record.
5 to 8 years of related experience in operational due diligence (audit, accounting and back-office operations will be considered) over a broad range of strategies and jurisdictions.
Good understanding of both public and private market investment operations life cycle, processes/policies/controls/risks/best practices, valuation, global regulatory and compliance rules, investment structures.
Practical experience applying AI tooling to due diligence or control-testing workflows: extracting and comparing data from manager DDQs, audited financial statements, service provider control reports (for example SOC 1 or ISAE 3402) and policy documents, and reconciling outputs against source evidence.
Familiarity with data management and integration practices and query tools such as SQL, with the ability to work across structured and unstructured data sets.
Excellent team player. Respect and work well with all levels and across different cultures.
Strong interest working with data and applying analytical thinking, have good sense of numbers and attention to details.
Excellent communications and critical report writing skills are essential.
Strong sense of professional skepticism and risk awareness.
Self-starter who is dependable and works effectively with autonomy, and able to prioritize across concurrent reviews and competing deadlines.
Provide constructive, pragmatic solutions, while demonstrating maturity and openness to feedback.
Consider management angles in decision making.
Willingness to participate in periodic night calls between the Singapore headquarters team and New York local team; or with fund managers in different global locations.

Nice To Haves

CPA, CFA or an equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
Commercial acumen, with exposure to fund documentation and the negotiation of operational terms an advantage.

Responsibilities

Conduct and manage the operational due diligence for fund investments across liquid and illiquid strategies; working closely with investment due diligence teams in Singapore and New York.
Use a data driven approach to establish market practices and benchmarks.
Review and document qualitative and quantitative assessments of fund managers’ operations, controls, risks, ongoing news and developments. Responsibilities include project management, scoping, on-site visits, service provider reviews, documentation, and reporting.
The role involves managing external ODD resources or consultants.
Monitor market and regulatory trends and developments. Identify and analyse impact and provide prompt, relevant advice to the business.
Resolve issues in a professional, tactful and timely manner.
Assist or lead reviews, adaptations or improvements of processes and workflows across the team, including identifying new business requirements and capabilities.
Initiate and manage ad-hoc projects (e.g., technology adoption, framework reviews).
Identify and prototype AI-enabled improvements to the ODD process (for example automated document review, benchmark extraction and red-flag screening), working with data and technology partners to move successful pilots into production.
