About The Position

The AVP & Mortgage Loan Officer will be responsible for developing new residential mortgage and home equity loans by cultivating relationships with referral sources. This role involves actively participating in networking and marketing initiatives, conducting client consultations, gathering and analyzing financial documentation, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout the loan process. The position also includes managing an existing loan portfolio, structuring loan terms in compliance with regulations, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth and timely closings. The role requires monitoring pipeline activity and proactively addressing any issues.

Requirements

  • Active NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator license in applicable states.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and secondary market standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Proficient with loan origination systems and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new residential mortgage and home equity loans, cultivating relationships with realtors, builders, attorneys, financial advisors and other referral sources.
  • Actively participate in networking events, community outreach, and marketing initiatives to generate new business.
  • Conduct in-depth consultations with borrowers to assess financial needs and recommend appropriate loan products.
  • Gather, analyze, and verify borrower financial documentation to ensure creditworthiness and loan eligibility.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the loan process, from application through closing.
  • Manage an existing loan portfolio, processing renewals and identifying cross-selling opportunities for bank products.
  • Structure loan terms in compliance with internal policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Pre-Funding Manager, underwriters, processors, and closers to ensure smooth timely closings.
  • Monitor pipeline activity and proactively address delays or exceptions.
