Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a relevant field is required
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in a complex healthcare environment
  • 10 years in oncology or a specialty clinic leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage in a matrixed environment, strong strategic thinking and change management skills, and excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within an academic medical center or NCI designated cancer center is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide unified leadership for all medical oncology operations, ensuring seamless, high-quality care across all locations. This includes standardization of day-to-day operations, optimizing patient access and flow, and ensuring operational excellence in all cancer settings.
  • Implement and maintain governance structures to ensure consistency in care and decision-making across all sites. The AVP is responsible to support regional leaders in implementation of daily operations within the network and coordinating the integration of clinical services between regions, to ensure equitable care delivery.
  • Collaborate with clinical and scientific leadership to integrate research activities into clinical operations, expand clinical trials, and improve patient access to innovative treatments, which is a key characteristic of an NCI-designated center.
  • Oversee the department's budget and monitor financial performance. The AVP works collaboratively to optimize resource utilization, revenue cycle integrity, and ensures all locations adhere to budgetary constraints. This includes assisting in action plans when needed to correct financial missteps or challenges, to ensure a strong financial portfolio.
  • Support and operationalize quality programming and performance improvement initiatives, in alignment with cancer center and service line Quality strategies and initiatives, focusing on patient safety, regulatory compliance (e.g., NCI, JCAHO standards), and enhanced patient experience. Participate and support in any regulatory or accreditation work needed across the health system, serving as a subject matter expert where appropriate.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and collaboration amongst the multidisciplinary teams, supporting the needs of patient-centric care delivery. The AVP serves as a liaison of the Medical Oncology Department and the Cancer Service Line with all levels of administration, faculty, and outside organizations.
