About The Position

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking an AVP Radiation Oncology to oversee the administrative and operational aspects of the radiation oncology service line, ensuring quality patient care across all locations. This role involves managing business, administrative, and technical operations, and achieving clinical, financial, and strategic goals. The AVP will utilize management and clinical information systems (MyChart, Epic, Metriq, Mosaic, Aria, etc.) to monitor and improve workflow, revenue cycle performance, patient access, and service performance. A key responsibility is ensuring the department meets all regulatory standards and the Department's Quality & Safety Management Plan, particularly for an NCI-designated cancer center, maintaining high standards in research and treatment. The AVP will participate in long-range strategic planning to enhance the cancer center's leadership in cancer research and patient care, developing new programs to advance prominence in education, research, and clinical care. Financial performance improvement and strategic growth of the oncology service line are also crucial, with a focus on value-based contracting and enterprise alignment to ensure high-quality integrated oncology care and a strong contribution margin. The role requires acting as a liaison with various levels of administration, faculty, and outside organizations, promoting physician and administrative partnerships, and establishing collaborative relationships. Operationalizing clinical research activities, overseeing the entire cycle of clinical development, and fostering translational research are essential. The AVP will also manage and develop a team, potentially including department management level positions. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Radiation Therapy, or related field required.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • 10 years prior management experience in a radiation oncology setting.
  • Knowledge and expertise of information systems to support operational, clinical and research activities.
  • Experience in accreditation processes required.
  • Expert verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership and collaboration within a multidisciplinary setting of physician and administrative leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage personnel effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, financial and resource management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Large health system experience strongly preferred.
  • NCI-designated cancer program experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the administrative and operational aspects of the radiation oncology service line, ensuring quality patient care at all locations where radiation oncology services are provided.
  • Managing business, administrative, and technical operations, and ensuring the achievement of clinical, financial, and strategic goals.
  • Establishing a working knowledge of management and clinical information systems (MyChart, Epic, Metriq, Mosaic, Aria, etc.); effectively using these tools to monitor and improve workflow, revenue cycle performance, patient access and service performance.
  • Ensuring that the department meets all regulatory standards and standards set by the Department's Quality & Safety Management Plan.
  • Participating in long-range strategic planning efforts, in conjunction with the VP, Cancer Service Line Strategy, to enhance the cancer center's leadership in cancer research and patient care.
  • Develop new programs or initiatives to advance the center's prominence in education, research, and clinical care.
  • Supporting improvements in financial performance and strategic growth of the oncology service line.
  • Focusing on value-based contracting and alignment across the enterprise, the AVP will engage with various teams to ensure the highest quality of integrated oncology care is delivered effectively to produce a strong contribution margin to the health system.
  • Acting as a liaison with various levels of administration, faculty, and outside organizations to coordinate service line business.
  • Promoting and maintaining physician and administrative partnerships and establishing collaborative working relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Operationalizing clinical research activities for oncology indications in the Radiation Oncology Department across the enterprise, overseeing the entire cycle of clinical development, including study design, execution, and regulatory reporting.
  • Fostering translational research and ensuring that patients receive appropriate therapy and participate in relevant clinical trials, in partnership with the Department & Clinical Trial Office (CTO) stakeholders.
  • Managing and developing a team, potentially including department management level positions.
