About The Position

The AVP, Divisional Sales SIG will direct the sales activities of assigned External Wholesalers within the Sammons Institutional Group (SIG) distribution channel. The position reports to the VP National Sales/Head of Distribution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' significant sales, wholesaler or relationship management in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Divisional sales management experience
  • Staff management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the company, including history, ownership structure, and value proposition
  • Advanced knowledge of financial services industry and investment products in general, including stocks, bonds, funds, annuities, 401K plans, pension plans
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must project a positive, professional image and conduct; this includes but is not limited to professional dress, language and conduct. This is required to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times and particularly while interacting with partner agencies and prospects
  • Series License-63 Required
  • Series License-6 Or
  • Series License-7 Required
  • Life Insurance license Required
  • Minimum 50-75% of work time to travel across assigned geographic territory and attendance at SFG related conferences and meetings
  • Due to the financial nature and level of accountability of this position, a credit and criminal background check is required
  • If the position is in the SIG business unit, Annuity New Business Securities team, or if we are holding securities licenses, FINRA regulations require fingerprinting for this position; if we are holding securities licenses, a credit check will also be required. Management reserves the right to determine and approve incumbent suitability for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the External Wholesalers for an assigned Division. Plans, allocates, monitors work and makes decisions regarding employment, performance appraisal, training, and related personnel actions.
  • Manage the production, activity, and reporting of assigned External Wholesalers to achieve Divisional Goals.
  • Provide training, coaching, and development to External Wholesalers through weekly 1:1 calls, in-field visits, divisional sales meetings and calls.
  • Hire and on-board new External Wholesalers as necessary.
  • Seek out opportunities to collaborate with other Sammons Financial Group (SFG) Member Companies’ executives and managers, and where necessary work across all SFG distribution channels for the best results for Sammons Financial Group Member Companies as a whole.
  • Act as the strongest promoter of our Company and serve as one of the best leaders in the organization.
  • Understand all products offered within their division, their uses, applications and sales ideas for each. Be able to promote their use in a variety of situations and recommend to the company additional products or changes that will positively affect our results.
  • Responsible for taking corrective action to remedy sales practices that are detrimental to the client or the Company.
  • Prepare detailed and time-sensitive reports which reflect the progress made toward the accomplishment of the Division’s objectives by measuring the regional activity and sales.
  • Focus on expense management by completing travel expense reports on a timely basis.
  • Drive and reinforce commitment to internal controls processes such as those under Model Audit Rule and Record Information Management.
