About The Position

The Assistant Vice President, Dealer Relations is responsible for managing and growing a designated portfolio of dealer relationships that support the credit union’s indirect auto lending strategy. This role is accountability for strengthening dealer partnerships, increasing dealer store contracts, driving quality loan volume, and delivering a service experience aligned with the credit union’s member-focused values. The position works closely with the Vice President, Dealer Relationship Management and internal business partners to execute market strategy, support dealer performance, and ensure alignment with lending policy, compliance expectations, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Progressive experience in indirect auto lending, dealer relationship management, consumer lending, or financial services, preferably within a credit union or similar member-focused institution.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, dealer relationship growth, and managing a portfolio in a sales or field-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of indirect lending, dealership operations, dealer financing processes, and consumer loan products.
  • Understanding of consumer lending regulations, internal controls, and policy compliance requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and business development skills.
  • Ability to analyze portfolio performance, identify trends, and recommend or implement actions to improve business results.
  • Demonstrated commitment to member service, collaboration, and the ability to represent the credit union professionally in the market.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable lending and portfolio management systems; willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a designated portfolio of dealer relationships to support indirect auto lending volume, dealer satisfaction, and portfolio performance.
  • Serve as an individual producer by developing new dealer relationships, expanding existing partnerships, and increasing the number of dealer store contracts within the assigned market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with dealer owners, principals, finance leaders, and other key decision-makers to enhance the credit union’s market presence and business results.
  • Execute dealer engagement strategies, sales plans, and market development activities in alignment with departmental goals and territory objectives.
  • Promote the credit union’s indirect lending solutions, programs, and service capabilities to prospective and existing dealer partners.
  • Monitor key business metrics, including loan volume, dealer store contract growth, dealer production, credit quality, and service levels, and take action to improve results.
  • Partner with underwriting, loan servicing, compliance, and other internal teams to ensure transactions, dealer relationships, and growth activities align with policy and regulatory expectations.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive insights, and dealer intelligence to the Vice President, Dealer Relationship Management to support strategic planning and performance improvement.
  • Support onboarding, training, and relationship development efforts that help dealers effectively utilize the credit union’s lending programs.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable credit union policies, lending procedures, regulatory requirements, and sound business practices.
