About The Position

Beacon is a national behavioral health organization providing residential services and supports to children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Severe Mental Illness (SMI), Autism, and high-acuity behavioral needs. All responsibilities within this role must be carried out in full compliance with company policies and procedures, accreditation standards, state and federal licensing requirements, HCBS guidelines, and contractual obligations with Community Mental Health Agencies and other regulatory bodies. Position Summary The Assistant Vice President of Compliance, in partnership with the Compliance Team, supports operational excellence by promoting the prevention, detection, and resolution of activities that may conflict with legal, regulatory, or ethical standards. This role plays a key part in developing and maintaining compliance policies, managing regulatory relationships, leading investigations, and ensuring adherence to all applicable requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in behavioral health, managed care, or provider operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health, Business Administration, Finance, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience overseeing multiple sites and direct reports required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and organizational information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, workflow efficiency, and workplace culture.
  • Oversee departmental management functions, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and, when necessary, termination.
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer in administering the compliance program across all Beacon services.
  • Assist in the implementation and oversight of compliance auditing, monitoring, training, investigations, and issue tracking aligned with the seven elements of compliance.
  • Lead and document investigations related to compliance or regulatory concerns, including ICARE Safeline reports.
  • Implement and monitor corrective action plans; ensure proper documentation and completion of mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of compliance programs across markets and recommend improvements.
  • Review and interpret compliance policies, serving as a resource for operational teams.
  • Provide compliance support across markets, including data analysis, risk assessment, and operational guidance.
  • Stay current with healthcare regulations and industry standards; educate teams on updates and changes.
  • Deliver training on key compliance topics such as HIPAA, Fraud and Abuse, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Elder Justice Act.
  • Analyze compliance data trends and partner with markets to develop action plans.
  • Participate in onboarding and ongoing training for compliance-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies during inspections, investigations, and inquiries.
  • Complete additional projects and duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory policies.
  • Maintain professionalism and meet physical and environmental job requirements.
  • Support equitable employment practices in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Actively participate in leadership meetings and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Safeguard confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and other legal requirements.
