About The Position

The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) is a nationally recognized leader in affordable housing finance, dedicated to stable and sustainable affordable housing as the foundation of strong communities. The AVP Compliance and Audit Manager will provide enterprise-wide leadership for CPC’s compliance, audit readiness, and risk management programs across all entities, businesses, and functions. This role is responsible for managing the compliance and audit strategy, leading internal and external audits, advising senior leadership on risk trends and remediation, and building programs for monitoring, documentation, and training to ensure adherence to investor, program, and enterprise requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required.
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, audit, risk management, or internal controls.
  • Experience in housing finance, real estate finance, or a similar financial services environment preferred.
  • Comfort with application configuration and system management related to compliance monitoring and documentation strongly preferred.
  • Experience with compliance systems (e.g., Bridger, Venminder) preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with FMAC and FNMA Guide Requirements preferred but not required.
  • Proactive, independent problem solver with strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong track record of managing agenda for cross-departmental and external partner meetings required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally to evolve a compliance program ensuring adherence to enterprise-level processes and procedures, adaptation to legal/cybersecurity/industry changes, and identification/escalation of compliance risks.
  • Provide oversight and review of investor and program requirements, manage updates to compliance policies and procedures, and coordinate for consistency.
  • Create a consistent monitoring program for guidance documents of varying sizes and update frequencies.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups to create and implement project plans for new requirements, ensuring documented, efficient, and compliant processes and procedures.
  • Create and implement an internal audit program to test key processes and procedures on a rotating basis.
  • Manage relevant annual audits and/or compliance requirements by external parties, coordinating visits, responses, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Manage a minimum of five audits or compliance processes annually, with frequency and intensity varying based on investor and partner timelines.
  • Proactively and independently identify and resolve timeline and documentation provision issues for individual audits.
  • Effectively communicate concerns, issues, and opportunities related to annual requirements internally and externally.
  • Maintain a macro view of compliance and risk mitigation requests and best practices across CPC’s investors and partners, escalating trends to leadership and proposing/implementing responses to simplify redundant requests.
  • Manage audits on aggregate and outside of specific audit events, driving remediation outcomes on a rolling and ad hoc basis.
  • Own end-to-end strategy and execution for in-person reviews, including agenda setting, executive preparation, materials quality control, stakeholder alignment, and logistics oversight.
  • Participate in stand-up meetings, submit registrations, contribute to applications, and perform document reviews as CPC pursues new programs and/or investor opportunities.
  • Complete or coordinate completion of, and manage submission or distribution of certifications, investor forms, or other compliance documentation.
  • Oversee vendor risk management program, including due diligence and performance reviews.
  • Manage annual Business Continuity Plan updates, tabletop testing calendar, and drive the annual compliance training process.
