About the Role: The AVP Architecture enables business agility by digitizing and integrating processes, systems and data to deliver services and capabilities that improve efficiency, increase delivery value, and ultimately improve the customer experience. The AVP Architecture actively engages in understanding business strategies and desired business outcomes to define simple, effective, resilient technology architectures. The Architecture team members define the system and solution architecture and partner with or embed in Scrum teams to communicate and adapt the architecture, rally around a shared technology vision, and rapidly develop skills and technology solutions. To accomplish this, the AVP Architecture promotes leadership and team development, a solid understanding of system/solution architecture and software engineering in a public cloud environment, an understanding of large-scale automated deployment, and a track record of designing high quality, available, secure, and useful systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 7-10 years of experience in information systems (experience should include extensive project related work, preferably application development projects and data warehouse projects) required
  • 5-7 years of system/solution/enterprise architecture experience required
  • 5-7 years management and/or leadership experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of and investment in emotional intelligence components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skill.
  • Working knowledge of and architectural decision-making experience with public cloud technologies, particularly PaaS offerings.
  • Experience in software development and test automation relevant to the product team (e.g. mobile, web, or database development) with a drive for continual learning.
  • Experience with automation toolsets and a mandate to automate everywhere for repeatability, scale, and efficiency.
  • Experience working in and coaching Agile Scrum teams.
  • Use and experience implementing modernization tools and AI to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Ability to scope and lead creation of “minimum viable product”; prioritizing critical tasks, and utilizing test and learn approaches to iteratively deliver technical and business solutions.
  • Provide leadership through influence, inspiration, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Identify opportunities, facilitate ideation, and champion initiatives that deliver measurable business value
  • Present team strategies and accomplishments to senior executives and peers.
  • Establish strong working relationships and build trust with peers.
  • Listen actively and communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
  • Apply creative thinking and negotiations skills to develop solutions that are acceptable to different needs
  • 2-4 years public cloud experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership oversight to ensure business vision is translated into scalable and sustainable technical solutions, balancing risk, investment needs, and fitness for purpose.
  • Lead and enable collaboration between architecture, engineering, and product management teams to define, communicate, and maintain technical architecture roadmaps.
  • Establish and govern the adoption of enterprise technology standards, and oversee the maintenance, and evolution of those standards across the organization.
  • Guide teams in the analysis of complex technical and business challenges, ensuring sound judgment and financial analysis inform strategic decisions.
  • Serve as accountable leader for critical technical domains such as systems architecture, data integration, and analytics.
  • Ensure effective leadership, ownership, and accountability across the organization for critical technical domains such as systems architecture, data integration, and analytics.
  • Encourage information sharing, actively seek input, and value diverse perspectives to improve outcomes and decision‑making.
  • Use data and metrics to drive continuous improvement in processes, platforms, and products.
